Expect a night of catchy pop hooks and melodies, ramshackle showtunes, and onstage theatrics as FRICTION returns to The Mercury Lounge on Saturday, August 18th with a lineup consisting of Chicago’s OFFICE, along with Philadelphia’s THE TEETH and THE CAPITOL YEARS. New York City’s very own BELL will be opening, making their debut at The Mercury Lounge, while Lauren Flax will be handling the decks in between sets.

FRICTION continues after the show and into the wee hours of the morning with an afterparty at Home Sweet Home featuring DJ sets by Mother Hubbard and Bald Eagle from Chicago’s Life During Wartime party and Lauren Flax.

Advance tickets are available now on Ticketweb for $10. Doors open at 7:30pm and set times are as follows: 11:00pm Office / 10:00pm The Teeth / 9:00pm The Capitol Years / 8:00pm Bell

OFFICE delivers punchy, in-your-face guitar pop with no apologies. The dry production leaves no frills aside from the occasional keyboard trill and vaguely techno-styled drumming. Office can get a letter from the Postal Service, employees can get guitar-fueled road rage on the way to work, but the year-end report looks good: they’re going to be in the black for a long time to come.” [Popmatters]

“Live, THE TEETH are a must-see. While they may be unassuming gents in the crowd, once they hit the stage with instruments in tow they become a seething mass of art in its element. Watch yourself – you may get blown away with their energy and enthusiasm, not to mention some great fucking music.” [LAS magazine]

[MP3]: The Teeth  ”The Coolest Kid In School”

“Fuck the Beatles. Cram Abbey Road— its achingly catchy melodies, Ringo ’n’ Paul’s pronounced rhythmic jitters, John’s distortion-pedal angst and gutbucket holler, George’s Dylan fixation and the group’s unified disgust with one another — into a meat grinder and you’d get the leaner, meatier greasier snack of THE CAPITOL YEARS.” [Philadelphia City Paper]

[MP3]: The Capitol Years  ”You Can Stay There”

“If I didn’t know better I’d expect BELL, to be already signed and have a million fans, possibly even have sold out to a car commercial…her work is part springtime tulip, part bitter wit, part grey morning heartbreak, part happy day, and all sorts of fresh and snappy.” [Strawberry Fire]

[MP3]: Bell  ”Brown Bear”
