Modular Stuff

I’ve been noticing that electroesque-pop/rock label Modular Records, home to Wolfmother (who seem to be on the wrong label these days, have been blowing up on mainstream radio and have their own Apple commercial) and my personal favorite Cut Copy (where have they been since cancelling the SXSW dates?) have been putting out some fantastic new music. Plus the bands on the their label have some of the sweetest looking websites around with their use of whitespace and line art. They’re about to invade NYC in the next few weeks. Don’t have time to get into it today so listen for yourself. Plus keep an eye out for their remixes, they do a good job.

SoulwaxMiserable Girl (Been listening to Belgian remixers, Soulwax‘s (aka 2 Many DJs) new Nite Versions out on September 14th. “Compliments and Accidents” is nice.)
Sept 21 – FIXED @ Studio B Brooklyn, NY
Sept 22 – Ultrafest

KlaxonsAtlantis To Interzone via Exitfare (EP Xan Valleys to be released in the US October 10th.)
Sept 19 — Modular Monthly @ Club Midway
Sept 21 — FIXED @ Studio B w/ Soulwax, 2 Many DJs

Van SheKelly (Aussies are a mix “80’s post punk, funk and synth pop, 90’s grunge, French house, film scores, and 70’s Krautrock”. To me they sound like Asia but I can’t put my finger on it.)

New Young Pony ClubIce Cream (Video for one of my favorite jams this summer. EP to also be released October 10th and an album to come in the new year.)

The PresetsDown Down Down (Festive video mixed with a little ‘Hung Up’. We had our fill of them during SXSW, they’re kicking off their North American tour next week but first stop NYC.)
Sept 5 @ Virgin Megastore Union Square 6pm
Sept 5 @ Galapagos, Brooklyn, NY Crashin’In w/ Holy Hail
